Thank You from Colise & James Johnson of The GAP

A message from Colise & James Johnson of The GAP (God Always Provides)

MAYWOOD PARK ROCKS!!!!!!!

Yesterday was absolutely amazing. Thank you all so much for everything. Thank you Nate for donating your winnings to The GAP. Was totally unexpected but really appreciated.

As we said yesterday, we have been doing this for 24 years now out of our home. However, we could not do this without all of the people that donate their time. Our volunteers drive, pick up loads, sort foods, make food boxes, restock our upstairs, and more.

We make 235 lunches a week that are distributed to homeless folks on the street. We feed over 400 people a week from our home at NE 68th & Brazee. We couldn't do this without everyone that donates all of the peanut butter, jam, water, snacks, water and fruit.

All of the other foods that are donated are always appreciated. We collect cans and bottles to turn in to buy the foods that we don't get donated. I go out canning (picking up returnable cans & bottles) a couple times a day weather permitting. Thank you all for giving us your returnable cans and bottles. Anytime anyone wants to see where any of their $$$ is going I have receipts.

We are always in need of spaghetti, elbow mac, rice, canned goods, canned meats, canned vegetables, vegetable oil. cereal, oatmeal, canned fruits, boxed raisins for lunches when we run out. We also collect personal care items for bags we put together for our families. We take clothes, blankets, coats, socks and more.

Saying thank you for all of your ongoing support seems so shallow. We are grateful for everything. The best part of this is seeing the children come in and know they won't go to bed hungry tonight. The other is hearing a senior citizen say "Now I don't have to make a choice between eating and getting my medicine". We deliver to our seniors and shut-ins. I do a lot of them in my electric wheelchair. Thank you for being food angels Maywood Park!!!

P.S. If anyone is ever in need of DME (durable medical equipment) The GAP has some things they can loan out.
