Position Vacancies
Hello Maywood Park Residents,
The City of Maywood Park is actively seeking engaged residents to serve our community! This is an excellent opportunity to make a tangible difference in our city. We currently have two vacancies on our City Council and five open positions on our City Budget Committee.
City Council Member (2 vacancies)
Term: June 2025 to January 2027 (Positions will be up for election in November 2026)
Responsibilities:
Attend Council Meetings held on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of every month.
Commit approximately 6 hours per month to council meetings and preparation for agenda items.
Attend at least 6 months of meetings prior to being seated in January to gain a comprehensive understanding of City operations.
Be available for 1-3 additional daytime meetings per year.
Take on specific Council responsibilities (e.g., streets, franchises).
Participate in community events such as the 4th of July celebration, Christmas tree decorating, Easter Egg hunt, and city clean-ups.
Contribute to drafting and working on various city projects.
Conduct budget research.
Act as a goodwill ambassador for the City.
Assist in preparing the city budget.
Ideal candidates for City Council should demonstrate ethical leadership, integrity, a commitment to upholding our City Charter, and a strong willingness to collaborate with fellow Council members and residents. A minimum of 12 months' residency in Maywood Park is required.
The current City Council will appoint two individuals to fill the remainder of these vacant terms.
