Sewering in Maywood Park
Question: Shall the city of Maywood Park connect to sewer?
Summary: Many questions will arise regarding details. A few may include cost (possibly in excess of $70K/household; every household will be responsible for street work, regardless of connection.), community disruption, time, tree damage, payment responsibility and current sewer connections. The City DOES NOT have these answers as of yet. We need to start with the very basic question “Do the majority of the voters want to connect to sewer?”
Should voters choose to proceed, the City will begin to look for project management, and ways to secure funding for the City portion of the extensive cost. We will design and build a sewer system to go through Maywood Park until we reach Portland lines, at which point we can connect to their existing sewer system with an IGA (Intergovernmental Agreement) with them.
This is a costly endeavor to both the city and residents. “YES” will give a green light to proceed “NO” will delay any sewer projects, at this time.
