October 2021 Update

Greetings,

Since we are entering the fall season, as beautiful as the leaves are, we all know how daunting they can be. Please make sure to keep the catch basins in front of your homes cleared. Lovett's will be here the first week of December to clean our catch basins and dry wells. City Sweeper's will be here October 25th, for fall street sweeping. Please have your vehicles removed by 8am.

MCSO is going to be spearheading our October 18th council meeting. Please be watching your mail for a letter from the city, containing information from Lt. Asboe in regards to the new legislation pertaining to homelessness and camping. He is asking residents to read this information and write down all well thought out questions. He will be addressing your questions and concerns at the October 18th meeting.

You may recall, Councilor Akers has been talking about the Portland Water Bureau coming in and updating our fire hydrants for several months. They have received the long awaited parts and have begun work. We have been told this is being done as a "side project'' and they will be here off and on over the next month and a half. The Portland water Bureau will be putting notices on doors 24 hours prior to water shut off. I do my best to notify residents as soon as I know. The city of Maywood Park has NO control as to when this will be happening.

As you can tell by the list of upcoming events, we are going to be very active in the next few months. Due to COVID, we needed to scale back on having a fall festival. One thing we were going to do at that event was introduce a Maywood Park beer. Gateway Brewing approached several residents about this some time ago, so we decided to proceed. There is a flyer included with details of its debut.

In addition to the annual lighting contest, with a theme of Santa's Toyland, we are adding a Gingerbread House and a Cookie Decorating contest. All of the details are included on an additional page.

Please make sure to visit the city's new website for additional information and details.
