Saturday, November 8th marked the third annual Maywood Park 5K, an annual tradition that takes runners and walkers on a scenic autumn foot tour of every street in the city.
The turnout for this year’s event was great! We had 43 registered participants ranging in age from 11 to 77 years old. From first-timers to speed demons, runners and walkers enjoyed a (fortunately) clear, crisp day among Maywood’s colorful trees.

We also had a special visit from Molly the Trolley, the My Street Grocery mobile grocery store. Thanks to resident Kevin Atchley who organized the visit, and worked with community members at the finish line to gather feedback on the experience.
We also had record participation from the community for this year’s event. Volunteers from within the city set up, cleared and secured the race course, registered participants, directed runners and walkers, served refreshments, coordinated with community businesses for prizes and donations, and showed everyone what an amazing city this is! Big thanks to everyone who participated and volunteered – YOU made this event a huge success.
